Elaine grew up singing around the piano with family and assorted relatives. From that grew an appreciation of music mostly, religious; then other styles as she got into high school. Elaine always sang in choirs, glee clubs and special groups. She has had no formal training, just the appreciation and the love of singing

John Carroll’s interest in singing started in 1958 with the University of Scranton Glee Club, and continued in graduate school with the Newman Club Choir at the University of Pennsylvania. He then sang in the Rhode Island Civic Chorale. John then took a twenty five year break from singing to raise his family. Then, after moving to Eastman in 2000, he again took up his singing hobby by joining the Eastmanaires.
